To download the spreadsheet, click here.

This spreadsheet, more than 2,200 titles in all, represents the total number of books online as of December 2008 on the HEB site.

Since several new categories and disciplines have been added since HEB’s initial launch in September 2002, including Art History, Folklore, Literature, Musicology, Philosphy, and Religion, we have changed our old listings to reflect Library of Congress classifications.

This list is now available in one downloadable Excel spreadsheet and also includes author, title, publication year, LC catalog number, subject areas, direct URL, and ISBN.

Titles with Unidentified Copyright Holder (Orphan Works)

HEB has made every effort to obtain electronic rights from the copyright holder. However, HEB was unable to identify or locate the copyright holder for a number of books (List of Books with Unidentified Copyright Holder). If you are able to provide information on the copyright holder of any of these titles please notify us as soon as possible at General Inquiries.

IFLA has issued a joint statement with IPA on the status of orphan works.

In addition the Copyright Office of the Library of Congress has held hearings and legislation is pending before the U. S. Congress on orphan works (www.copyright.gov/orphan).

Title Recommendations

If you would like to recommend a book of high quality and lasting merit in the humanities, please e-mail us with the title, author, publisher, and publication date, as well as your name, position, and affiliation. All recommendations will be added to our list for the next round of review.
