We have established our Classification System on the model used by JSTOR, aimed at insuring that we apply a consistent and fair standard for all libraries.

Our pricing categories are based first on the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, 2000 Edition.

The second basis for pricing is: Full-time enrollment (FTE), which for institutions of higher education is the enrollment of full-time students plus the full-time equivalent of part-time students as reported by institutions. In the absence of an equivalent reported by an institution, the FTE enrollment is estimated by adding one-third of part-time enrollment to full-time enrollment.

Consortia

The annual fee for consortia will be based on the total of the individual fees for each library from the consortia subscribing to HEB, plus a consortial discount based on the following discount tables.

This discount can be based on either of two methods: on percentage of participation or on absolute numbers of participants, whichever the consortium chooses as being more favorable based on its membership. The discount method and resulting discount rate shall be fixed for the annual invoice period.

ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION RATES

Annual subscription rates are guaranteed for the first three years of purchase and subject thereafter to modest annual increases as the collection grows at an average annual rate of 13%. Consortia discounts apply to annual as well as purchase rates. No capitalization fee applies.

Very Large Institutions— $3,125

Medium Institutions— $1,225
Small Institutions— $750

PURCHASE LICENSE RATES

A purchase provides a 10-year license to all current and future content, which will be growing at an average annual rate of over 13%. The purchase option includes ownership of the files for any works that are not protected by copyright at the expiration of the 10-year term.

In conversations with librarians, ten years was considered the best approximation for "perpetual" in the current electronic environment for platforms, delivery and archiving systems.

This means that by the end of 10 years the collection will have grown to over 6700 volumes in all fields across the humanities, including distinguished series from leading university presses.

Over 10 years, one-time purchase will save an average of 20% off projected annual subscription rates, in addition to libraries' internal savings on the administration and management of annual subscriptions and renewals.

Consortia discounts apply to purchase as well as annual rates. No annual maintenance fee applies.

Very Large Institutions— $41,000
Large Institutions— $31,000
Medium Institutions— $16,500
Small Institutions— $10,000
Very Small Institutions— $6,000
